Recorded on January 17, 1985 as part of the San Francisco Exploratorium’s Speaking of Music series, Charles Amirkhanian interviews New York composer Charles Wuorinen. Wuorinen is part of the uptown school of American composers and discusses the difference between his type of music and that produced by the downtown school of minimalists and aleatory influenced composers. He also voices his opinions about patronage of the arts and the lack of standards in modern composition.
