Kerfuffle - Asaguare
A guy talks to his annoying companion. Actually an all day situation... some people hanging around, drinking, joking, playing cards, just relaxing and having fun after a working day. There's always one guy who starts getting serious, spreading his philosophy that nobody wants to listen to. The only thing you can do is give him a beer and make him shut up.

Ondine - Asaguare
Dared impressionistic fusion of dark IDM and classic: Dynamic piano lines (partly processed), framed by a primitive machinery beat. Not everyone's gusto, I know. However, I didn't want to come up with anything mainstreamy that day, and this one reflects pretty much the mood I was in. Theme: Joseph-Maurice Ravel - Ondine (from Gaspard de la nuit, 1908)

Indie Rock (vocals/lyrics: Kristin Hersh) Although Kristin's original vocal stem was pretty good, I pitched it down (3 semitones) to get that strange undefinable voice flavour.

Walk On - Asaguare
Stumbled upon this acappella tune from narva9 and thought 'hey, let's add some blues instrumentals'. So I recorded a bit of mouth harp and guitar playing, and twiddled with a sort of shuffled drumloop. It didn't work out as groovy as I intended, but has its own nice drive. Vocals, lyrics: narva9

Orange Sado - Asaguare
Ambient Industrial (Vocals/lyrics: Fenix) Discovered a Fenix poem named 'doormat' on my drive the other day. Having already started with a dark Electronica tune before, I thus arranged her poem (via vocoder) and integrated it into the draft, which led to a strange Industrial Pop fusion. The title came from my Electronica WIP, previously designed as a pure instrumental tune. I just didn't change the project's working title after having added Fenix.

Vessel Damage 1952 - Asaguare
Persiflage about a deemed awkward accident in 1952 concerning two Navy vessels, having grazed each other more or less keenly when maneuvering near Mannheim harbor (Germany) on Rhine River Patrol. This caused slight deformations, loss of coating and some extra weekend shifts for overhauling. Anchors aweigh, hooray. The musical challenge wasn't just to cite the U.S.Navy anthem (being in major key) here, but to perform it in a pathetical minor key version at the end of the piece.
Keywords: experimental; navy; anthem; choir; ironic

Opus Frex - Asaguare
This is a recreation of 'From Expression' by old splice mate Allen (aka xperimnt), originally composed in the splice sequencer in 2008 as a pure instrumental tune. I've always liked this cute theme with its joyfully moving synth melodies, sometimes appearing slightly jazzy due to out-of-scale notes. Respecting its structure and atmosphere, I also used quite similar sounds for bass and lead. The drum track has become a bit more vivid, and I added a vocal track to make it kind of a pop song...

Fortress on the hill - Asaguare
Once again a nice little ballad with rather minimal instrumentation - cello, guitar and vocals. Tried to avoid getting too philosphical when I worked on the lyrics. Anyway, it has a simple melody and so are the words: Simply looking back at things that happened long ago and pondering about life, especially a love that remained unfulfilled.
Keywords: vocals; lyrics; ballad; song; english; love; sad
Down To The River Man - Asaguare

Hemeniom - Asaguare
Meditative chillout guitars. About a year ago I was strumming some random chords and intervals on my guitar - pretty much absorbed in thought - when suddenly a short sequence attracted my interest... three consecutive 5ths: B/F#, G/D and D/A, played slowly and descending. In my imagination I completed the 3rds and virtually heard B-minor, G-major and D-major, which gave a nice progression for iteration...

Their Joy - Asaguare
Experimental Pop Found a nice little poem, written and spoken by Elaine Sharp. My first idea was to simply underlay some harmonic noises to create sort of weird Laurie Anderson soundscape. But of course it took its own direction... After assembling of some chords and accompaniment, I dared to mangle her via vocoder to obtain a sung melody as well. Lastly it mutated into a totally different thing, that's to say a structured song, albeit of quite a peculiar retro nature.....
Keywords: vocals; lyrics; english; poem; poetry; song; alternative; pop; experimental; vocoder
World By The Wayside - Asaguare
Ambient House. Usually I prefer female vocals for a simple technical reason: their frequency spectrum just make them stand out in a mix. Often I even pitch them up one or two semitones to emphasize their clearness in an arrangement. In this case however I pitched the lead singer Natalie considerably down to get a warm male voice which in my opinion expressed the feeling of the song much better. At least the contrasting female backing vocals are still rather close to their original pitch...
