Project name: Zinc acetate Lozenges, the world's only patented cure for the common cold
Abstract: Zinc acetate lozenges release positively charged zinc ions into the oral cavity where they migrate via the mouth-nose biologically closed electric circuit (60 to 120 mV) to the virally infected tissues of the nasal epithilium, where they prevent adhesion of virus to cells through inhibition of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), thus shortening to curing the common cold.

Several other metals are studied, including magnesium for treatment of hyperemitionality such as depression, and anxiety. Gallium is studied, especially in the treatment of inflammation in horses in a disease called "navicular disease"
