There really weren't any web browsers way, way back. The first I know of was NCSA/CERN and Mosaic. There were some competing browsers early on. Predating the web by a few years was UMich's gopher service, a text-based information service browser. Brewster's and Thinking Machines' WAIS was another front-end for data services that was a bit like the web.
Besides that, it was mostly usenet, ftp and mailing lists before the web.

Really, I can't let this go unchecked...
