Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
Might be file headers or something. Are you familiar with SHNtool? Any chance you could run shntool len against the wave files and paste the output here?
I think they named the field "Creator" because that is what is appropriate for many of the other collections. Agreed that it would be more clear in our collection if that would say "Artist".

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
Any chance you could run shntool on the uncompressed WAVs/AIFFs rather than just the FLAC files? When they're compressed it doesn't show anything in the "WAVE" column.
I'd actually suggest decompressing to WAV even though you're on a Mac, since xACT (and shntool in general) are molasses-slow when trying to run on AIFFs...the header info should still be the same.

Yup, I see nothing wrong there though. I'm downloading one of the files now to take a look.

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
Weird, when I put these files into FLAC Frontend and try to test them I get:
duo2006-04-27d1t04.flac: ERROR, --until value is before --skip point
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Press any key to continue . . .
What did you use to encode them? I can't decompress them either.

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
I encoded them with xACT. I had a drive die and was stuck in OSX.2 for a little while. I got back up to date today but had made those files in an older xACT. I'll try a new test now.

What options did you choose? Which version of FLAC comes with xACT?

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
version 1.58 comes with flac 1.1.1; let me see if I can decode one of them on OS X.
Edit: Nope, I can't decode it - it gives me the same error Brad is seeing:

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
Assuming the FLACs check out on your end, I'd suggest re-uploading them - it looks like something has gone wrong in the uploading process, either through the FTP upload or something on the server itself. I'd check the recording out, delete everything but the XML files, and re-upload...
Brad, any ideas?

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
Considering all 3 of us have problems with these files (archive servers, my download, Dave's download) and it affects all the files I think there's a problem with the way the files were encoded. Can you shed some light on the options you used to encode them Clinton? Maybe try
downloading FLAC 1.1.2 and encode from the command line..

Re: first upload in new system seems to be off |
The same files I uploaded decode for me though. So the encoding must have been okay. Is it only a couple of files? If so can you relist which? I cannot reupload all of the files. If it is a couple of a few and I can replace them alone I might be able to.

It's all the files. If you check the log file all of them fail to create derivatives.
