So, anyone care to weigh in on the fake/not-fake controversy?

It seems to me that if they were going to really film a living severed dog's head, you might proudly show you the tubes leading into it, and the process of attaching the tubes to the veins and arteries. I couldn't see any part of the table that the filmmakers didn't want me to see, leading me to believe that the footage was faked.

However, while this particular footage might have been faked, the mad scientists in question probably were doing this work, and possibly even successfully. I wouldn't put it past 'em.

Who knows?

That lung, though -- totally fake. Lungs work based on the low pressure pulling them open, not on air being forced into them (unless you're getting mouth-to-mouth). You could probably go to the slaughterhouse and get some lungs and make them puff up down with a bicycle pump. Big deal. If the mad scientists did make the lungs work so they actually oxygenated blood, why didn't they use real lungs in their severed head experiments instead of aerating the blood in a glass doodad?

I think I just talked myself into the "fake" position.

Great horror film, though.
