Is this a valid copyright renewel? |
I saw this registration for the episode "Subconscious approach" of "My Little Margie":
http://cocatalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?v1=11&ti=1,11&Search%5FArg=my%20little%20margie&Search%5FCode=TALL&CNT=25&PID=uqfpqXwZ2SF79R3e5S6iSVcpUss1&SEQ=20120802070618&SID=4
Is this valid?
Also, is the copyright notice on the episode valid?:
http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s389/JeiceWarrior/temp19.pngThe registration looks valid but the copyright notice doesn't.
So would I be correct to presume the episode is copyrighted? Or is any part of this invalid?

Re: Is this a valid copyright renewel? |
The link for the renewal doesn't work. It is a lot easier for everyone if the text of the renewal is simply pasted here:
Subconscious approach. By Roland Reed Television Productions & Rovan Films.
Type of Work: Motion Picture
Registration Number / Date: RE0000137031 / 1982-09-23
Renewal registration for: PA0000098051 / 1954-10-08
Title: Subconscious approach. By Roland Reed Television Productions & Rovan Films.
Series: My little Margie, episode no. 103
Copyright Claimant: Ziv International, Inc. (PWH)
Variant title: Subconscious approach.
Names: Roland Reed Television Productions
Rovan Films.
Ziv International, Inc.
The copyright notice looks good to me. It has
1. "COPYRIGHT"
2. the year
3. the owner of the copyright
They don't have to be on the same line, according to Video-Cellar.
At oldies.com the series is sold on the Vci Video label, not on the Alpha Video label.
In summary, there seems to be nothing to suggest that this is public domain.

Re: Is this a valid copyright renewel? Copyright sign © |
I always thought it had to have the copyright sign © instead of just the word "copyright", but I guess I was wrong.
Won't bother to upload it, then.
Thanks for the info.
