I think I'm going to give LeBron and myself a break and not sweat it.

The media makes it very difficult to have sports heroes. In the old days what we didn't know didn't hurt us. In fact I think ESPN(they have ALL the power in sports news) has made our relationship with pro athletes less enjoyable. I now view emerging star athletes, even the most innocent, with a jaundiced eye. It's not if, but when will they be exposed for.....something.

As LeBron loves to say, "At the end of the day...", I just want to watch the f*cking game and be entertained. Well LeBron just says the first part.

Give him a break RBNW, it must be tough going through life with a head like an Easter Island statue.

I've been far more entertained by the UEFA Euro 2012. Great games almost every day!!

It's not just ESPN.

"He sneezes and it's a trending topic on Twitter. He is a fascinating study because he's really the first and most seminal sports figure in the information age, where everything he does is reported and dissected and second-guessed many times over and he handles everything with an amazing grace and patience that I don't know if other superstars from other areas would have been able to handle."

Shane Battier during a locker room interview in the Knicks series as printed in Newsday

No other superstar has ever had to deal with not only the media but the social media microscope that LeBron has. I suspect Magic and Michael would have been viewed much differently in world full of camera phones and twitter given what we know about them now. Larry Bird? Nah he probably would have still been pretty boring, but I suspect he would hated this level of attention.

The guys got CLASS, eh BD?

You have to love him; it was nice to see Miller (WTF?), Chalmers and your man SB come thru so dramatically.

And, you have to recall, it was Wade and Kobe that kicked ass in the Olympics, ya know? Wade finally came thru too, but at the end of HF's day, this was all Leboner.

I think the comments that Bill Simmons and Malcolm Gladwell make about Battier's comments were even more interesting:

Nice to see Shane and Miller get a title. I was at the last game the last time Shane walked off the court a champion.

You coming back home for the final 4 next year?
