Re: The Trey Challenge: Part II |
Hey Althea, this is a great Phish moment, a quite popular one as well, for good reason.
I think phish heads differ from dead fans in that they are more so the type to "rage" or really just wanna dance. Phish moves me big time, but it doesnt stimulate my brain like dead does. This jams builds pretty nicely and is a good example of what phish heads miss when listening to dead.
I'd start from the beginning, but make sure you at least check 3-6 minutes in. There are only a few small moments in this jam that show what I think makes him a better guitar player (remember, i still much prefer jerry and think jerry plays notes much more passionately).

(unfortunately I cant link you, but highly suggest this...)
go to phishows.com
go to shows
go to 1993
go to 1993-12-31
stream the first track titled "llama"
its a couple minute song and it will show you what makes trey such an incredible guitarist.

WIDH, brother I tried your recommendation.
It just doesn't speak to me at all, or if it does I don't speak their language.

And so on and so on and scooby dooby dooby
Ooh sha sha
We gotta live together"
