TDIH - Greek Theater '83 Melt into a Dream |
05-15-1983
Second set was one of my favorite tapes...
Decent first set...Cassidy and Deal are the highlights...
Second Set opens with Birthday Wishes to Dan Healy and off they're running with Help>Slip>Frank...Garcia nails Slipknot and keeps his foot on the gas for pretty much the entire Franklin's...this HSF gets my vote for the best version of the year...Samson smokes and He's Gone grooves along...glub glub glub......out of space emerges a decent Truckin'...then we're treated to my personal favorite version of Stella Blue, gets my vote for the best Stella Blue of the 80s...must be heard...the Baby Blue encore sends all the hippies home happy...no soundboard exists, very sad...

Re: TDIH - Greek Theater '83 Melt into a Dream |
This was one of my favorite 2nd sets from '83. This was my all time favorite drum session, powerful and tribal. Extra special Stella Blue. The most intense tye-dye hung behind the stage. My mind eye was still a smoking crater from the Friday the 13th meltdown. There were some friends of mine handing out lots of free drops during all three of these shows...those drops were the real deal!
The '83 Greek run makes me want a time machine just to see if I could survive it a second time around...my mind eye is actually still a smoking crater from the events of that weekend.

Re: TDIH - Greek Theater '83 Melt into a Dream |
Good call strat.....just finished listening to this one. I've been forcing myself into the early 80s for the past week or so and so far have enjoyed most of what I've heard.
(Pay no attention to the gasping and apoplectic wheezing from PM Tell and others....)
