[from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_3.6 ]
Firefox versions 4 through 9 had all reached end-of-life status while Mozilla continued supporting Firefox 3.6 with security updates. Coinciding with a proposal to cater to Enterprise users with optional Extended Support Releases beginning in 2012 based upon Firefox 10, Mozilla has tentative plans to discontinue support for Firefox 3.6 on April 24, 2012

i wonder what PowerPC folks are going to do? maybe they'll have a v11 upgrade that works, then? i will try to hunt down a PPC mac at work monday anyway...

No, we will continue to use Firefox 3.6.x. All newer versions of Firefox require an Intel processor.

seems logical.
i worry in general about any s/ware going into "nonmaintained" for any users/computers. but hopefully any glaring security issues will get plugged, still.

we'll continue to have Firefox v3.6 on our short list of "must work on" browsers, so thanks for helping us sort that out!
