Re: songs you wish the Dead hadnt covered? |
The Last Time . I cringe with that, and always look around to make sure there is no fan of the Rolling Stones, or anyone who knows the song listening ! The Rolling Stones version is one of the great Rock singles, just a powerful, dark, gritty record , but the Dead's version...
It is embarrassing . There are some versions, were the into is jamed ed out a bit , but usually it is just lame, lame lame . Mick, and Keith are not the nicest guys on the planet, but they never did anything to deserve this !

All the Beatles tunes... and all the Dylan songs, with the exception of Simple Twist of Fate. The Mighty Quinn is like being under the dentist's drill. Also, all the Stones songs - agree with DD - Satisfaction and It's All Over Now are just cringe-inducing.

I Fought the Law. Worst cover ever. It's like a big middle finger to the audience considering that a large percentage of them have been in trouble with the law (not to mention how many people got arrested at every Grateful Dead show).

Re: songs you wish the Dead hadnt covered? |
Can someone put together some Venn diagrams that capture all of recent the "Songs I Wish...." posts?
My guess is the intercept would result in Dark Star being the only song they played that pleased everyone.

Re: songs you wish the Dead hadnt covered? |
u squared -
Starr Hill Dark Star Stout is a feature brew at FloydFest in either of the two beer gardens. Very nice leggy stout with a great finish and more than a little punch.
In the VIP beer garden, the beer cup is bottomless. So even though they raised the price of a VIP ticket to $600 from $400, I look at it as a challenge to now drink 120 cups of beer in 5 days - and voila - my ticket is free. I will of course, pace myself.
In addition to the free beer and food, having lunch with Alison Krauss is looking like a pretty good deal too. I'm hoping Union Station also shows up....

I have tried a few of these brews here in England, good beer and LOVE the names for some of the different beers they produce. There's: Golden Gate; Summer Meltdown; Winter Meltdown (I like to think Winterland); Smoked Porter; American Pale Ale; Dark Star Original;
