Re: new years resolutions |
I don't know about the New Year's part, but it does coincide with the beginning of earnest preparations for my firstborn's final take off from the nest. While not eminent, I don't want to fuck this up or rush the process. I can't believe how old/big he is. Sometimes it makes me want to sit outside and cry. I was at home for the first years of his life and literally carried that sucker all the time. We would take epic walks w/ him in his stroller and see if we could make it back before twilight. Or my futile attempts to play ball w/ him at the neighborhood field. (He still can't/won't play, oh well.) His breaking away began years ago, as it always does w/ all our children and should. My children all hear my constant refrain, 'Question All Authority'. Of course, it's always fun when you are the Authority.
But this 'resolution' is not his questioning or trying different roles out, but the big transition, in slow motion, but very real and happening. And from his 36 hour delivery to this very moment is but a blink of my eye. God help me do what is good.

Sean -
Having already been through it with our oldest let me offer this thought. It's not mine, but my wife found it and it now hangs prominently in our house.
"The two best things parents can give their children are roots.....and wings."
It doesn't make it hurt any less, but if you've given them both roots and wings they never truly leave.
Happy New Year.
PS - I am going to be a 183% basket case when I walk my little girl down the aisle in 109 days, 1 hour and 55 minutes........

R.- Good luck walking down the aisle with your daughter. As I have three boys that honor will never be mine. Your training may come in good use, so you let it all go after the newlyweds are on their way. Here's to a beautiful late April wedding w/ no rain. Congratulations!
(And you now have 109 days, 1 hour and 30 minutes. Also, under 200% basket case levels are reported to still keep you together, so you're good.)

So I supposed to give my daughter an Alex Haley novel and a case of Red Bull?:)
Seriously, my girl is turning 10 in less than a week.....the day she was born time stood still. Since that day time has been a wretched thief.

Well said flow....
I can tell you it is an amazing journey to be privileged to be a part of. There are many times I wish my kids were young again, but we are still very, very close and still do many things together so I'm not sure I'd be willing to trade those days away either.
Sheesh, three days into the new year and you jackwagons got me all weepy eyed....

My oldest is leaving home soon too, and I also was a stay-at-home dad (still am mostly). I've been preparing for this for nearly 18 years, but I'm not nearly ready.
I think my parents were glad to see me go. I know I wanted to get away. But, I'm really going to miss my daughter - we get along great.

micah, they leave and if you're not careful they come back ;)
I know it is stressful, my "babies" are 34 and 29. Both are "out of the nest" at present...well 1, is the other comes and goes bi-weekly(long story).
Hope all goes well for you my friend and the young-un.

Which reminds me....
Damn, too soon, huh?
Seriously, though, I hope never to lose the sense of awe and pride I get when I look at my kids and see the human beings they have become. Sure as hell are a lot farther along then I was at their ages.

Posting less at the Forum; each yr I've kept it too! Since I was averaging ~ a Ga-jill-yen per yr, it's been an easy one...besides, no one ever upsets me with posts about Stalingrad these days. And, I think everyone stopped listening to anything post 73 or so, thus--not much to say, eh? Heck, people even went back to 1968 for their radio fix, so my work is done here...took me five yrs to recognize it, but I are slow.

speaking of dumb ass posts... like this one...
http://archive.org/post/477959/loose-endam at a bit of a loose end at the moment.
Anyone know where I could find an 'interesting' escort to help me kill some time ?
Russian, Indian, slightly left of centre, etc.,
Anything considered, as long as it's female and has got a pulse.
Just haven't got the first idea of where to look.
These things always seem to pass me by.

'RIP' ?
Wrong as usual.
And going through my old posts, looking for things to pick me up on ? You're obsessed (probably obese too). Get a life.
Remember: it was your foul (and brainless) tirade against me ("Go f*ck yourself in the mouth, twice") that started all this.
As my mother always used to say, if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. But you probably can't stop yourself.
So, go back and crawl under your rock, like a good, little ('new and improved') boy - retard !

If you're 'new and improved', God only knows what you were like before you were re-born.
My mother's advice ? Well, every rule has an exception and you're obviously an exception.
As I said, you were the one who started this all off ("Go fuck yourself in the mouth - twice").
Life is too short to waste corresponding with CUNTS like you.
I ain't gonna waste another second talking with SHIT LIKE YOU.
I will continue to use the Archive (and maybe the Forum too) - I come here to learn, not to act like a pompous arsehole (RBNW [new and improved] = pompous arsehole).
If I ever see 'new and improved' (obvious oxymoron in your case), I will avoid it at my peril.
Conclusion:
===========
I wouldn't even piss on you if you were on fire.
Don't bother replying - I ain't gonna read it.
RBNW = CUNT
No, RBNW = MEGGA-CUNT

Haven't paid attention to what time the Pune Kolkatta Hyderabad Delhi Mumbai Girls go to work, but whoever is in charge of them is definitely overworking them. If your New Year's re-posts convince them to head off to other territory, that would be most welcome. ("Oh my," thinks the spambot, "these people have katara resolutions, yaar! Clearly we cannot make any rupees here. C'mon, girls, off to the Bieber Archives.")

That about sums it up.
Sorry, that's the taste I can't get out of my mouth today; from an evil combination of the flu that ran me down on Sunday and the gut churning ineptness of our "elected" leaders.
Carry on.
