Re: Don't Diss the East Side! :-) |
Oh AR, no disrespect intended. I have been looking for a way to remove my foot from my mouth all day. Even
http://www.drscholls.com can't help.
It was an undereducated, generalization on my part. I meant no DIS. My sincere apology if you were offended.
I almost peed myself laughing at those vids you posted. Its so funny cuz its true.
I know Clevelanders are very proud people, as they should. I hope you didnt take my stupid statement any wrong way.
This was on 60 minutes last week ~just rediculous~ I would love to hear your take on it
considering what your day to day life must be where you live. Can you imagine?
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57344513/there-goes-the-neighborhood/ I just want to put that out there. I will respond more if needed. I apparently have said too much
already (like an idiot)....so Im just gonna shut up now.
Peace to you and have good travels!

Re: Don't Diss the East Side! :-) |
Day-to-day life where I live? Hmmm. Well, this was taken walking distance from my house:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei5ENajmDQII haven't actually lived in Cleveland since the late '80s. Just visiting for Xmas. But gosh, I wasn't offended at all ... just having fun with my knee-jerk East-vs-West Side thing. (It's a Cleveland thing. The West Side has the pink flamingos on the lawn. The East Side has the orchestra. Let's see if that will flush out any West Siders :-) )
Part of those videos I posted before was used by Michael Moore in Capitalism: A Love Story, and when it came on the screen, my husband and I just about fell out of our seats laughing ... definitely very true!
My take on the CNN episode ... The place they show looks to me like it's a pretty typical inner-city neighborhood. It's just one of those places that was blue-collar 50 years ago and has been poor and getting poorer ever since. Abandoned houses aren’t anything new there, either. The city per se is fairly small (the suburbs aren't incorporated in it) and has looked like a ghost town pretty much of all of my life.
However, I will say that if you've got a good job here, there are an awful lot of houses on the market in really nice neighborhoods. I suppose that's partly the current economy, but it's also just a reality of the Rust Belt. But hey ... at least it's not Detroit! :-)
