Got your problem !
First ,give some Shortcuts Keys for capture screenshot on Mac .
Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop
Or you can try the Mac Screenshot Capture (macscreenshots.com/screenshotcapture_mac.html),a new program for mac screen capture ,which my friend recommended to me .It can canpture the free areas .

This screenshot capture for Mac (http://macscreenshots.com/freehandregiongrab_mac.html ) maybe can help you. This screenshot capturing software is newly released . With it, you can edit your screen snaps as you like. By the way, I like its freehand capture and freehand drawing.
