When you arrive at the dead.net homepage there is the heading for the newly announced "Dave's Picks" series. Up pops some floating characters of 16 show dates and locations for a few seconds then scrambles and fades.
Is this intended to represent the other three shows in consideration along with the 05/25/77 Mosque that will comprise the 2012 Dave's Picks subscription series or just a tease at the multitude of possibilities?
I don't mind ordering a la carte at a restaurant, has anyone here ever prepaid for a meal from a chef that was unannounced except for the appetizer? Even the prix fixe offerings are announced in advance.

The list is actually 17 shows - it includes 8/30/83 Hult Center. (Not, I think, many people's pick for "best of '83"!)
And it is not a list of the upcoming releases. Two days ago, the list was quite different:

So I would expect the list to change periodically.
While these may be drawn from some list of "top" shows to tease people, it's certainly not an announcement of what the next several years of Dead releases is going to be!

Wow: 5-26-77? Least successful show of the tour IMO. After the perfection of 5-25, it sounds to me like everything Jerry does in Baltimore is banal. I've wondered whether his extravagant harmonic experimentation in the 5-28 show was his own reaction to the tedium of his playing on 5-26.

Baltimore 05/26/77 is a musically beautiful performance as were several of the May-June 1977 offerings.
Thanks for the heads-up on the 06/04/77 Forum show, i've been in the eggshell before and appreciate just how close to the stage these AKG D224Es are.

Thanks for pointing this out, d.s. Definitely not subscription-worthy for me, if half of the shows are 80s and 90s. God willing the 5-17-74 release will include the 5-21 PITB as filler.
General conclusion: if these are indeed Dave's Faves, it looks like he's drawn to long complex medleys (a la the Ark first-set jam). So maybe we'll get the Terrapin medley from 6-4-77 as filler with the Mosque release.

I subscribed last year, but I won't do it again this year. To me, they've just shot themselves in the foot. On that list, there are only about 4 shows that I would be willing to pay for: 4/23/69, 10/3/76, 11/4/77, and 8/30/80

The 12/27/89 Oakland Coliseum show individually is attractive and given the economic realities of selling physical media these days it would prove to be most efficient to deliver Rhino a $1.2 Million pre-paid, pre-order for production, launch and delivery.
Just take a look at what has become of Netflix since the July 2011 announcement, the stock fell an additional 41% yesterday from the 52 week high of $305 down to $77 they basically have "dug their own grave!"
