to billbarstad re We live again |
Bill,
I see you're the one who uploaded
We Live Again, and I have found the following renewals for it (
1962 CCE, p46):
WE LIVE AGAIN, a photoplay in nine
reels by Samuel Goldwyn. © 17Dec34;
L5173. Howard Productions, Inc. (PCW)
5Mar62; R291893.
WE LIVE AGAIN, a photoplay in nine

(PWH); 5Mar62; R291894.
Do you have information about these renewals being invalid, or do they stand? And if they do, would you prefer to request the removal of the film yourself or for me to do it (I already have a
post listing two copyrighted films that need to be taken down).
As a disclaimer, I don't mean to harass you. I wanted to watch the film but found it strange that
IMDB only shows MGM as having it out on DVD, so I thought I would double check the CCEs first.

Re: to billbarstad re We live again |
Back in 2006-07 I decided I wanted to contribute to the Archive after getting so much entertainment from it. Didn't know anything about copyright, but movies from the 1930s
had to be PD, right? Anyway, I picked about 10 or so of what I thought were obscure American movies from the period, and a bunch of Hitchcock films, some of which had been identified as being PD, and uploaded them. Only 7 remain, including
We Live Again, which you rightly pointed out as being under copyright, and I'd forgotten about.
Video-Cellar began educating and helping us
about a year after I uploaded
We Live Again, shining some light on copyright law. It's taken a lot for me to wrap my head around it, with figurative kicking, screaming, and rending of hair. I'm a retired chemist, used to precision, the free exchange of and open access to information, not the legalese of copyright law, with its deliberate vagueness and loopholes, the often casual deceit of players with vested interests, and the difficulty in obtaining some critical information. It's been quite an experience.
Well, that's my trip down memory lane. Sorry for the rant, but you got me thinking back over things.

I must say you have good taste. A few years ago, I watched
Here comes Mr Jordan and
The Young in Heart, which were among your uploads if I reckon correctly, and found them quite enjoyable and uplifting.
