Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
are you MSIE browser?
sorry, that's due to it loading java right now to playback the .mp3s for audio....
we are trying to work together with the player developers to get mp3 playback in flash (like we do now w/ flowplayer).
stay tuned -- hopefully we get that working in the next few weeks!

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
Mine will not work AT ALL in Google Chrome... my preferred browser. It does not even load the box up, just blank screen. If I try to load it up in MSIE the box will come up with the tracks, but it is basically a coin toss weather it will actually play the song or not. I'm trying this froma virtually new laptop running Windows 7 so it's not like i'm running some ancient hardware or anything. I don't get it. The old player worked perfectly on any machine I ever tried to use it on. What made you guys want to switch players?

Hi there,
Can you share a link to a page with the issues?
Thanks!

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
Sorry.... I hate to be a Grumpy Gus. But I have barely been able to get the new "beta" player to work at all. The old player worked great, I just wish it was still here. I like to play shows, and I'm not always necessarily sitting right in front of my computer, and it is really obnoxious to have to get up from across the room to click on every song to make it play. I just want some continuous playback.

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
Ok.. I think I get it now. I'm guessing maybe the reason you guys switched to the new player is because it plays audio AND video, which makes sense. I just got really frustrated because I have had no luck whatsoever in using it. Again on brand new hardware, running Windows 7. So being beta, maybe this will bring something to the developers attention. Chrome functionality seems to have some issues. Such as not working at all. At least on my machine. I have not searched the forums, maybe this has already been a complaint?

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
guessing that maybe it's due to it trying to use java to play audio (ogg) on windows' explorer browser -- which is obviously not going to be good.
however, i did work w/ the main developer to make .mp3 playback through flash plugin work and i'm hoping that's now the default playback?
(you can determine via "right click" when the audio is playing to see if it looks like flash v. java).
any better now? (haven't changed things much in last 2 months, but hopefully got better since late june!)

Tracey,
I'm trying the new Kaltura audio/video player today for the first time in my Opera and Firefox browsers. This new player is streaming all the tracks continuously (without stopping).

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
At first, the new Kaltura audio/video player was putting "all playable files" onto the new player's playlist.
And, it was playing all of them. BAD idea. My vbr MP3s from my recordings, in some cases - where I had also uploaded other media files, were being played last. My FLV "movie files" were being played first, ahead of my MP3s. At first I tried renaming my FLVs to get them to sort last. No help. Today I noticed this issue has been resolved. All the files for my items are once again sorting, listing, and playing correctly, and continuously. Good Job!

Re: New Kaltura audio/video player (beta) |
right you are!
i was trying hard to get the time to carve out this (back end) update to
make that stop happening -- noticed it on my multi A/V items, too! ;-)
took awhile to lay the right backend groundwork in place (read weeks to get to it, unfortunately!), then once that was done, was able to separate the Audio from Video and clean it all up!
SORRY for this bug delay!!
cheers,

Yes, Internet Explorer version 9. The Java window does indeed appear in the new window before it turns black.
