Uptown Theatre Chicago 02/26/81 From the Vault |
David Lemieux delivered this first set snippet @ Dead.Net Tapers Section from the Uptown Theatre Chicago 02/26/81.
http://www.dead.net/sites/deadbeta.rhino.com/files/deadtapers/mar072011/feel.htmlStranger; Althea > Rooster; Bird Song: Uncle > Big River; Peggy-O; Passenger: Ten Jed: Music Never Stopped.
Caveat: This recording is a lil choppy until Rooster > Bird Song and eventually blooms throughout the run. It's a documentary film unto itself. Check out Passenger > Ten Jed > Music and the Second Set.
Why is this compelling? The great 1981 Uptown Theatre performances 02/26 - 02/27 - 02/28. After the fatal "crash n burn" of Donna and Keith in early 1979 many of us were skeptical as to what the future would hold.
By 1981 the Dead's sound totally evolved with Brent and his classic Hammond B-3. The interplay between Jerry and Brent is simply fluid as they learned to trust each other's musical instincts.
I've stated this before, and i'll say it again, David Lemieux has access to the best sources of most Grateful Dead recordings stored in the vault. And depending on his choice of delivery some of these recordings are stunning.
There are both Barry Glassberg audience and Dick Latvala soundbords stored here for listening/streaming that pale in comparison. It's impressive how much more analog tape information is available from these performances.
David, if you're listening, please bring forward these great 1981 Uptown Theatre performances on CD's!

Thanks for the feedback, Pat! But if it's so unnecessary, then why take the time to respond? Anyway, I see he's already corrected his original butchering of Lemieux. So I guess my work is done here.

Tim, is Kochman (aka darkstarz) now actually claiming to have attended performances in 1981? I thought he only saw a couple shows in '95?
Judging from his recent posts, he's becoming increasingly delusional. He obviously needs to get back on his meds.

Re: Uptown Theatre Chicago 02/26/81 From the Vault |
I really dont get it Dennis, and that is the truth. The Email he recently sent me was classic Koch. He swore on his "honor" he has not posted here in years(thats what he said) and he also said something to tthe effect of "stop harrassing me even though the screen names you think are me are not me".
It had to be one of the dumbest exchanges I have ever had with anyone. I just replied that How could I be harrassing you if you have not posted at LMA in years? So bizarre.
Anyway, I think you get the drift Dennis. I just get a little tired now and again of his bullshit so I say something. To answer your question - go back and look at the dark.starz posts and you can see that he has claimed to have been taping since the sixties and attended shows in the early seventies and a bunch of other nonsense.
