Random Changing File Links |
Not quite sure how to explain this or exactly what is going on, but I'll give it a shot.
I run a podcast. The mp3 files for that podcast are hosted here at archive.org. I link, through our blog (and thus generate the RSS feed which is run through feedburner) directly to the mp3 file for each episode as shown via the HTTP link here at archive.org. So far so good, that part of the process works (or rather worked) well.
The problem is that some of the direct links appear to change over time. For example, this:
http://ia360704.us.archive.org/10/items/GameOn-Episode49pieInTheSky/gameon_episode049.mp3has suddenly become this:
http://ia700105.us.archive.org/10/items/GameOn-Episode49pieInTheSky/gameon_episode049.mp3The problem is that this of course screws up the feed as the files are no longer where they were originally and people can't find the older shows. Currently there are 15 episodes of my podcast that can not be found because of this. Naturally, this affects iTunes as well.
So my question has several parts:
1. What is going on that causes the links to change?
2. Can it be prevented?
3. If it can't be prevented, is there a way to be notified when the links change so I can at least keep up with it?
4. Is there a method for handling this that I am unaware of?
5. Anything else I need to know?
Thanks for reading and helping.
