It's worth the time to watch it. My wife enjoyed it too. Page is the elder statesman full of confidence. The Edge I knew little about so that was interesting to get to know him. And Jack White seems to be humble and in awe of his being there. My buddy went to the last tour Jack was on and said it was one of the best shows he had ever seen, and we've been to tons of shows together.
This comment on the Robert Cray youtube was cracking me up: "Anyone else think Robert cray reminds you of mace windu?"

the documentary It Might Get Loud is definitely worth watching.
The Edge, Jimi page and Jack White, who makes a hillarious comment on the way to the gig.
they ask him what is gonna happen when they all get into the same room? Jack white answers,.......'probably get into a fist fight.'

Tony Rice is amazing.
I'll just add a couple of honorable mentions, since all the greats have been noted: Norman Blake and David Bromberg have given me some musical treasures over the years. Don't know if he's been mentioned, but Rev. Gary Davis for his very unique style.

I've been on a crazy Durutti Column kick lately, been listening to almost nothng but them and Morrissey's "Viva Hate" album, which is of course driven by Vini and Stephen Street's arrangements (it's great to hear Vini rock out a bit, as much as he would hate anyone ever saying that). Wikipedia also has a surprising list of projects where Vini is sideman to various people; I'm about to start tracking down some of these just to hear me some new Vini.
"Reilly arranged music and played guitar on fellow Manchester artist Morrissey's debut album Viva Hate in 1988. Reilly has also recorded with artists including John Cooper Clarke, Pauline Murray, Anne Clark, The Wake, Richard Jobson, Quando Quango, Craig Davies, Swing Out Sister and Holly Johnson."
Also a big plus is that DC fans, like Oregon/Ralph Towner fans, tend to have some serious audiophile tendencies: every live bootleg I've heard of them is exquisite.

Brilliant, amazing and humble. Changed our world – the proof is in the video – everyone should see it. Funny, but he was the first I thought of when this post began, not necessarily for virtuosity, but like you said, brilliant. Wow! I remember Hanger One vivdly, but only because you mentioned it. Haven't thought of it in almost thirty years. Only vaguely remember the Rusty Nail, I don't think I ever saw Max Creek there, but the Hanger had that huge dance floor and was quite the party.

Interesting list. I almost mentioned Ernest Ranglin. Was just listening to 'Modern Answers to Old Problems' yesterday. And curiously enough was listening to James Blood Ulmer channeling Robert Johnson on 'Birthright' over the holiday weekend. Have you had a chance to check out Vernon Reid playing live with the Burnt Sugar Arkestra Chamber?

They've played in France a few times - they have a few promoter friends around England, so one can always hope. In my opinion, their live gigs produce some of the freshest, most intense and most intriguing music today. Saw them in NYC with 28 people playing - incredible and wonderful.
