Forum: GratefulDead Subject: New here

Hi everyone. I just discovered this website. I love the GD. I love the 90's the best. Over the years I learned theirs a few aspects of the dead that I like the most:
I love Bob weirs slide guitar playing and I love Brent and Vinces song writting. I think that Vince was the GD's best keyboardist. Jerry was not that good in the early years but in the 80's he really started to get good, especailly the late 80's and 90's, but thats obvious. I hate Dark Star, its too long and boring, its good that they didn't play it too often, thats probly why. I heard Jerry loved playing dark star so he probably forced the rest of the band to play it every now and then. I loved Donna Jeans contributions to songs like Scarlet Bagonias and Playin in the Band- good stuff.
I went to a few shows in san francisco in 1967, I enjoyed those shows but I was trippin hard on LSD and that always makes the music worse. And with the GD in 1967 it made the music worse than it already was, you know what im talking about if youve ever gone to shows and tripped.

You ARE the man, William Jell!

yes, Jerry's best shows were when he was deep into heroin. It brought out his most soulful 90's jammin.
The problem with the 60's & 70's were, well....too many notes! And don't even get me started on the blunderfuck of noise in all those Darkstars....yeech!
Give me a nice slow Big River any day!

Emperor Joseph II: “An excellent effort. You have shown us something...quite new tonight. It’s just that, occasionally it seems to have...too many notes.”

Mozart: “There are just as many notes, Majesty, as I require, neither more nor less.”

Emperor Joseph II: “Your work is ingenious. It’s quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that’s all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.”

Mozart: “Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?”

William Jell?? Is this the "anti-William Tell" fore-told and warned about by Nostradamus??
....Or has our very own William Tell been taken over by dark forces? Stay tuned for next weeks episode of Rocky & Bullwinkle...
Welcome William Jell.

I got off the bus as soon as Jerry started to sing and play, none of those guys were worth a damn and Hunters lyrics were for little girls.

I loved Vince's songs the most, Samba in the rain was their best song.

Dark star made me nauseous, I couldn't take that long slow sh*t. I think they should have covered the Barney Song, I love you, you love me, we're a happy family................

Damn I think I had a flash back, and William Jell was a figment of my over active imagination RIGHT????????

don't even reply to this or that other CRAP-rflmao

I do Not like jello. At all. Reminds me of being sick as a kid. I would say be nice, but I too just loved the peak of '92. Just one more Saturd... no, no ,no that's not right, just one more samba in the brain. Ahh much better. Nothing like good ol'fashioned dhead elitism. Infectious.

Dude - what's your fav Aiko Aiko version? I know that's a little "early era" for your tastes but thought you might occasionally reach that far back into the vaults.

I just get so tired of the Vince bashers. He was a great keyboard player. He could really sing. He was a great songwriter, who's songs didn't really fit the mold of the Grateful Dead.

Granted, Samba Sucked. The instrumental jams inspired by it were pretty damned good.

Vinnie entered into a role, under duress, where he simply couldn't win. After 11 years, Brent was still called the New Kid.

How could Vinnie ever succeed?

Do you ever listen to the Tubes? How about late 80's, early 90's Todd Rundgren? Vinnie Rocked!!!

Seriously? C'mon, the original post was a late April Fools joke, right? I'd love to be unbiased and open-minded enough to allow Mr. Jell his opinions, but it's too perfectly satirical...as the LOL hysterical responses have demonstrated. If only he had said that "I will take you home" was his favorite song of all time...
