1971 has one of, what I find to be, the most important shows of the Dead's career. Cap Theater 2-18-71. My reasoning was rather simple minded. A lot of songs that were debuted at this concert are what many of us consider classics. Also this show and the entire run became one of the first of many "marathon" shows. Look at the setlists, you will understand what I mean. They were able to fit in as many songs as they possibly could which was the pattern for those marathon 72 shows as well.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Someone has put in a lot of effort to help us enjoy a beautiful part of that show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1igVj3w8KE
