BBC Radio 2 here in the UK are broadcasting a programme about Altamont at 10 pm UK time tonight - so that would be 5pm East Coast, 2pm West Coast and 3pm for the 'Zonies. I mention it because it was a topic of discussion a week or two back so could be of interest to some. Sam Cutler is apparently one of those participating. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to listen to it via the website wherever you may be.

I'm listening to this right now as I'm typing.
Did Sam Cutler just blame the Grateful Dead for everything that went wrong or did I mishear him?

Sorry for the late response my internet was down for a couple days. Anyway, I've talked to Sam Cutler about Altamont and have read his soon to be released book and he by no means blames the Dead for the problems at Altamont. Bill Graham maybe, but there are really too many facets to it. Actually, I saw on his Facebook that he watched the BBC show and he thought it was pretty well done. His Book is really excellent though and covers his thoughts well on the subject. I'll have more on it later when it's released over there.

The dead wasn't even up the hill yet when things started going down. From my angle, one city pledge (San Jose) and his drunk buddies started brawling with some spectators, shit snowballed, a full vested member was assaulted, Marty Balin got his smart ass kicked, Mick blamed the dudes for everything, even after they caught an assassin.

A Really Bad Day and Not a Historic Event in the area at ALL.
