I get exactly the same message each time I have tried to do this over the past ten days. I'm using windows xp. Thank you for any help on this. File size doesn't seem to make any difference, nor type of file. I've tried .avi, .doc, and .pdf and get the same message on all.

maybe something is blocking your uploads?
i suggest this.
try uploading 1 small (JPEG) test file using the normal [share] button
and path it suggests.
if you see the progress bar go to the end and say the file is uploaded,
wait for that, and then reload the page, and re-move over the [share]
button. if your file *did* indeed make it to our server, it will automatically show you the page you saw before w/ the file listed as uploaded near the very top (semi small print). if so, good news, the file made it up at least.
knowing whether the file is *actually* making it to us or not will be very helpful. i can suggest another server for you to upload and me to watch to try to diagnose this further after this...
