I have SmartFTP loaded, but I'm unable to connect. In SmartFTP, I enter audio-uploads.archive.org as the server, then enter my email address as the login, enter my password, and enter Port 21, then click on "Connect" and get the following error message:

SmartFTP v1.0.983.22
Resolving host name audio-uploads.archive.org...
No such host is known.
Active Help Link: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/index.php/83
Connection closed.

What am I doing wrong?

It doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong. It looks like your DNS (Domain Name Service) servers just can't figure out where to send your request (this is a problem with your Internet Service Provider). Wait a couple hours, then try again. I just connected fine, so I know it isn't the upload server.

I think my problem might be due to the fact that I'm behind a firewall, and I don't have permissions to change it. However, I can download shows from your web site. If the firewall it my problem, are there any suggestions on another FTP software / method to upload that would be less restrictive behind a firewall?

All FTP programs behave the same way when it comes to this issue, so trying another client will not do anything.

Try logging into one of the download servers with FTP.

Address: audio01.archive.org
Port: 21
(for username/password, check the box that says "Anonymous" on the far right)

If that fails too, chances are that FTP is blocked by the firewall (are you at work?)

Yes, logging on to the download server failed too. I am trying to access through my office connection (since I only have dial-up at home). Sounds like I'm stuck!

Yes, some corporate networks block port 21. :(

Sorry!

If there's anyone out there with uploading capability who would be willing to help, I have a couple of Josh Ritter, a couple of Eddie From Ohio, and a couple of Vienna Teng shows (all SBD, all high quality) that I'd like uploaded. I would be willing to get them all converted to flac, named appropriately, and include a text file with track names. I could burn them onto CD's or a DVD as flac files and mail to you. Contact me off-list as fellert@peoplepc.com with your mailing address. Thanks.
