Forum: classic_cartoons Subject: Looking for an old cartoon

Hi,
I'm looking for an old cartoon, it was pretty strange...
i remember there was rokets and planes in the sky and sudenly, one rocket landed and a big muscled guy exit from the rocket with a tinny dog, and start talking like a girly....
later, an alligator was in the water, we could see his head only and when he came out of the water, the rest of the body was veeery small, an than, he said, "i was sick"...

and the last one, we could see 2 hands with 3 matches and the guy asked, how can we make a sqare with 3 matches...and he start putting matches one by one everywhere, faster and faster and at the end, it was full of matches everywhere....

I'm 45yrs old and that the kind of cartoons i could see when i was young, ....:OP

If someone know of what i'm talking about and can help me to find those cartoons, i'll be more than happy!!

Thx!!

Jay

I thought this sounded more like a hallucination than a cartoon - until I got to the part about the alligator, which I can recall vividly. I'm going to have to find out now what that cartoon was.

Thanks for all the sleep you're going to cost me while I cudgel my brain trying to remember it. :)

Well, that hardly caused any insomnia at all. At least the part that I recall, about the alligator.

It's called The Slap-Happy Lion, and you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KHPHjzX-4o

Woops! My mistake. This is the one I was thinking of:

I remember seeing them both when I was a kid (I'm 41, not much younger than you), but my kids will never see them except in recordings. A shame how the PC trend has robbed us of some excellent cartoons.

I'm a big fan of the old Looney Tunes. They sought to entertain kids and adults at the same time, and came up with some pretty clever stuff in doing so. Things have changed, but a lot of their stuff is still funny now, 65 to 75 years after it was produced. I can't say the same about the stuff churned out by Disney or MGM at the time.

Oh, come now. Disney: Donald Duck cartoons are still funny. Goofy cartoons too. MGM: I still laugh out loud at Tom & Jerry.

Disney was just "cute." MGM was the same before Tex Avery moved there, and he never created any new characters comparable to those he did at WB. Tom and Jerry just don't stand up to Bugs and Elmer :-)

YES Tom and Jerry is about the only classic cartoon I rate. By classic I mean my parents watched it when they were little too! :)
