Hello, from http://www.archive.org/about/faqs.php#235 "please upload each file to your item individually, in a non-compressed format. Uploading content in a .zip or .rar file makes your item unstreamable and significantly less accessible to others. If you upload .zip, .rar, non-video formats (like .exe), or password-protected files, they may be removed by our moderators." The best way is to upload the file so that any visitor can see it or hear it immediately. Reveal the work easily to all people! Also, if the uploader only changes the file ending from rar to avi, but it is still secretly a rar, after a moderator finds the deception they may block the account and remove the account's other content. So, decompress the rar first, then send the true avi.

Yes, the site will automatically make a zip package from the mp3 files. Usually by a few hours after upload you will see the link on the left side of the page under "Play / Download".

Examples:
http://www.archive.org/details/AlJolson
see "Whole directory"

http://www.archive.org/details/AbdulWaliAlArkani
see "VBR ZIP"

Also, sending normal mp3 files will make the black easy-play radio on the page for any visitor. So, I can quickly hear that Abdul Wali Al Arkani has a beautiful voice.
