Forum: general Subject: Re: Wayback: Constantly redirected to live site

When using the Wayback Machine to view historical copies of a website, it's important to select snapshots highlighted in blue. These snapshots represent captured versions of the site at specific moments in time and will show you the page as it was at that time.

On the other hand, snapshots highlighted in green are redirects. This means that when you try to access these snapshots, instead of showing you the page captured at that moment, the Wayback Machine automatically redirects you to the website in its current state. This can lead to confusion as you won't see the historical version you're looking for.

So, to avoid the frustration of seeing the current page instead of the archived version, make sure to select snapshots highlighted in blue. This way, you can easily explore different versions of the website over time.
