Re: Recommendation #2: Love is the song we sing |
Need to chime in to spread the gospel on this one. I received this as a Xmas gift in Dec '08 after putting it on my wish list. It is fantastic - pretty much all I listened to for several months. I mentioned it in this thread last year:
http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=219344With such a large compilation, I could probably trim it down by 25% and have several hours of pure gold (at least to my ear).
My personal favorite track on the cd is "Alabama Bound" by the Charlatans - pure trance-like, early-era psychedelia, but there are many, many other gems. The whole complilation seems like it's custom-made for cream-puff-war!

Re: Recommendation #2: Love is the song we sing |
i think that's around 80 dollars for only four CDs. Steep to say the least. And I'm guessing the Dark Star on there is the original what, like 2 or 3 minute version? It would have to be given that there are 18 songs on that disc. Well it's probably an interesting listen, but unless someone I know gets a copy I won't hear it. Thanks for the rec. though!

Re: Recommendation #2: Love is the song we sing |
didnt realise it was that expensive - i didnt intend anyone to actually order it from that site - i got mine for €30 in tower in dublin, much more reasonable, just wanted to hip people to the fact that it was avalable. The dark star is the single, and in 4 cdsof way out material it is the furthest by some distance, chaotic tumbling bass hell everyone knows it anyway
