Calling Out Around The World....help needed |
After looking through my CD library, external hard drives,
not owning "Fillmore West 1969: Complete Recordings" and looking at various sights, I realize Im having trouble getting the
2-28-69 Fillmore West show.
I could go in depth to where I've looked and such, but
the only option I have now is to ask you kynd folks
to help me obtain a copy of this show.
Please dont send me to btetree. The 69 project I already
torrented is a SHN file. I am not interested in SHNs.
A FLAC would be best, but I would settle for an MP3 at
this point.
A copy of this show will make a really grate 40th
birthday gift for a dear, close, personnal friend of mine.
Born 2-28-1969
So as you can tell the time is ticking...
ANY help would be grately appreciated!!!
btw~ B&Ps are a totally acceptable option, if needed

I don't know if this helps, but sugarmegs has it on this page:
http://tela.sugarmegs.org/alpha/g.htmlThe sound quality might be worse than you are looking for though. Good luck, I hope you can get the show (in high quality) in time.

Craven - do you know to "never get out of the boat"? That's the help I got from Willard several months back. You can email me at direisaflamingassholeATbessieloverDOTcom if that is too cryptic.

weird, i thought i was the only one who used JUNO mail ... been using it since the company launched around 15 years ago; does that make me a loyal customer? or just stuck in a rut?

seeing as how nobody from the nether regions of the globe has chimed in, and if the kind offers of where to go for the .mp3 files do not suffice, email me your postal address and i'll have the FLAC files in the mail no later than wednesday this week

I didnt expect so many responses.
I am truely moved by the willingness of those who responded.
I appreciate all your help. I have responded to Rings and
Bells for the simple reason of a flac exsisting in the same
state that Im in (delirium) seems the best choice for now.
I will post back as soon as Rings gets back to me to let
you all get your addys off the page ~ dont wanna cut off
my nose despite my face though.
Again, thank you all for your DEADication.
And if any you (BD) want to devulge the "cryptical envelopment"

Re: Calling Out Around The World....help needed |
looks like you're covered so that's good. Question - what's wrong with SHN vs. Flac? I've heard that Flac has a better compression this or that yadda yadda but aren't they both acceptable lossless formats? Geez, no wonder I don't trade anymore, people get so picky ( I'm not saying you Craven, I just mean in general I can't keep up with the perfectionists ).

Re: Calling Out Around The World....help needed |
yea, this subject has been beaten to death around here a
few time JOTS. SHNs will be a thing of the past here some-
time soon. But basically for me, my Roxio doesnt support
SHN files. I can drag and drop FLACs and OGGs, and pretty
much everything except SHNs. Thats my reasoning.
Im sure someone else can explain (or link you to) the can
of worms that you just opened.
hope your well john...

Re: Dumb question |
I think shorten was the early data compression, FLAC is a higher compression, WAV is the uncompressed data format = audio and vbr,mp3,mpu,wma,raw, etc... is a WAV file downgraded with less information, but I'm just a layman, so... that's it from me on technical jarb.

.shn is a non-lossy format for sharing music. You don't lose audio quality. .mp3's lose a lot of quality. But .shn files are bigger, and must be converted before you can listen to them (or you can get plug-in's for your media player) so they're not as popular. Audiophiles live and die by non-lossy formats, though, so for things such as concerts, you'll see a lot of them in .shn format.
Personally, I don't think it's THAT big of a deal... Although I like .wma's more than .mp3's. .wma's sound better, and are a bit smaller than .mp3's. I usually go with a 160 kps .wma, and it sounds good enough for me.
It is THAT BIG OF A DEAL.
Single, don't even think about converting anything you have LOSELESS ALREADY into mp3's (espicially the shows I B+ped for you.)

Re: Dumb question |
All these compression schemes will be obsolete soon, stick with WAV or AIFF for the mac folks. Redbook standard CD. If you run out of drive space open a gmail account and email yourself one song at a time and you'll never run out of space!

I'm pretty happy as long as Trader's Little Helper can decode to WAV which it does for FLAC and SHN. Not sure about that Ogg Vorbis - that just sounds weird.

Ogg vorbis is alright, flac is not that user friendly... the vorbis sounds great and you don't need no converter.

Re: Dumb question |
We're not anywhere near close to living without compression, and lossless is great. I think FLAC is stronger at this point, and is being supported in entertainment center software and in audio applications mostly via plug-ins (Adobe Audition for example).
