I was lucky enough to receive a show in the mail from a trading group a few months ago. At the time I was still running OS9 which doesn't have support for FLAC and related formats. The files were MKW, so I just backed them up on CD for when I upgraded to OSX.

As of this week I'm running OSX and thought xACT would be able to convert these MKWs. But no luck. I tried manually changing the extension to .FLAC but only ran into errors. I downloaded MacFLAC and made some attempts but still no joy.

I have googled and re-read most of the FAQs around but didn't come up with much at all. Can anyone help this novice Mac X user please?
Thanks,
Gary

MKWact for Windows to do it. Install Virtual PC on your Mac and install MKWact on the virtual windows and you'll be able to decode the files.

Thanks for the tip cabbage.
I was hoping there might be a solution that doesn't cost so much. US$128 to convert one show?! I just love Mr Gates and his crew.

Yeah, $128 is steep for one show...the free solution is to ask a friend with a PC to help. :)

Ever heard of pirate copying? You can get almost any program for free.

Related to this, please fill out an error report if you ever spot a show in the collection here that is in MKW format. We will make sure it is re-encoded to SHN or FLAC.
