Just jammin to Mission In The Rain from 2.19.78 -- This Mission as well as 3.18.78 a month later and Kean College are my three all-time favs. Any more suggestions?

Listening to all Jerry tonight here in warm Thailand. Just got 11.7.81 from jp, i could not handle the audience so I went for some classic boards. Maybe it's my speakers, I'll give it another shot when 3.18.78 is over. Sweeeet Sweeeet Show. Anyone give 11.7.81 from jp a listen?

I am grateful to all the regulars and the newbies who have been keepin it real on here. From Jumpin Jerry and D. Crosby to Arb's Jerry Sets, these are just some reasons why I have called this place home for the past 2.5 years. Stoked to be part of something that rocks and is educational. Not to hard to believe I'm a first grade teacher with an Taylor guitar as my life changing tool.

* Go and get 1.30.78 over at Goodie Ditty files just in time for Wednesday's 30th anniversary party!

Name That Poster: "I have enough music to last me for three lifetimes..." -- Classic!

Hey SD77

Long time no talk. Didn't I give you that show. Charlie Miller SBD. Check the discs but if memory serves me correct you're set up.

Hope all is well on your side of the world.

Hi Jeremy,

Glad to hear all is well with you in sunny Thailand. I've dipped back a little further and just d/loaded 07-10-1973 which is just beautiful. Smile, smile, smile.

Rob, how's everything going?

I absolutely have fallen in love with 73 Dead this year, particularly, Fall and Winter.

Do you mean 6.10.73, I'll have to take a peek at 7.10 if this is not the case.

Smile x3

Hi again,

The show is 10th July 1973 Garcia band, full of great playing, and a stand-out 'Positively 4th Street'.

Sorry if I confused you with dates, even now I still struggle with the U.S. style.

Cheers.

stilldead77: ...priceless tune, hey? Remember to check out the "Grateful Dead's" five performances as well. Especially check out the first and last - pristine quality to stream here:
[1976-06-10 - Boston Music Hall]

[1976-06-29 - Chicago Auditorium Theatre] == Keith!! [check out Peggy-O as well]

There's nothing like a "Grateful Dead" concert, circa June/July 1976, except, of course, a Jerry show.....anytime.

Ashes,

Love this tune too, however I don't think the GD versions I have heard come close to the JGB ones. Somehow it just didn't have the same bounce with the Dead. Do you know why Jerry only played it those 5 times with them?

elbow1126: ..Jerry never told me the reason(s) why the "Grateful Dead" stopped playing it after only five performances. Maybe he wanted to save it as one of the few Hunter jewels to include in his Garcia Band shows that consisted primarily of non-Hunter tunes(?) Or maybe there is no reason at all....

He told me once that he stopped playing it with the GD because there wasn't really supposed to be rhythm guitar part an Bobby always fucked it up. He mentioned it one time in 79 or so when we were in a bowling league together.

patkelley: PERFECT! ...I wrote that response thinking I set myself up perfectly to get knocked down by some humorous responses by elbow1126 and the rest of the crew. [I'm digging myself out of a shallow grave....again.]

That visual of you and Jerry in a bowling league with those shoes, shirts, trophies, etc. is absolutely perfect --- I'm gonna laugh all night. [Got a nice version of "Tangled Up In Blue" from 1990 playin' now.]

I hope you are doing well; did you find anymore Clapton that you like?

Ashes: I was busy being born right in the middle of these two performances -- 6-24, around the time they were probably blasting into Franklin's at the Tower in Philly.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I know what you mean. When the Boys or Jerry bands nailed this tune (which was most cases) it always brought huge smiles from me. A real treasure of a tune to say the least

I think my favorite GD Mission was 1976-06-12. I don't know why, just something about the groove of that one keeps me coming back to it again and again. Of course there are a number of other grate tunes that show too. If you don't have it it available on furthurnet. I'm hosting :
