yes I see the American Studio date(North Hollywood,CA)
Key word: studio

I would enjoy listening to either, but prefer today
anniversary. live.

Oh and yes, I would do almost anything to make Toti's
or Tito's (whatever the name) head explode

Both www.deadlists.com and www.setlist.com list a show on 12/13/67, with setlist showing a Darlstar. No torrents, active or inactive are in shnflac or bt.etree :(
Maybe the Huckster has it....

I never got a chance to see the Dead do Dark Star. My favorite of all time is on an old cassette, that tape when played on number 2 volume just takes my house down, such a fine copy of this concert and this so awesome Dark Star. This one is my favorite of all times the date of this fine show is 2-13-70

if it exists, it doesn't circulate; and anyway, this is the era of hot Viola's, why bother with what was probably a 4 minute DS

Couldn't have said it better myself...this one DID take time to mature...even an early era maniac like me has to admit it was better post 68. But, that rule does not apply to many other tunes...like the one you suggest.
