Wow. And if thats not enough shit fuck thats what love will do get this if it's the only thing you do this week.
Oh yea and who ever said Jerry was to happy for the blues listen to this cause I just don't get what you were talking about now.

Yea this has got everything from jazz to ska but the thing is somehow you really hear the blues roots in it all so yes I completely see what you were saying before.

Re: LOM75-05-21 |
Welcome to a new and wonderful world of Jerry! It must be great to hear something like that for the first time. Legion of Mary were smoking.
Jerry had the Reconstruction band going in 1979. It's a whole new sound (LOM with funk?) for him, but it fit the time period I guess. I need to be in the mood for it; when he isn't soloing it can get tiring.

Yeah but I have to admit, Martin Fierro kind of grates on me. The Sax isn't an instrument that is very forgiving of sour notes.

hmmm only a first listen but I gotta say I Liked the horns I heard but yea they are often very unforgiving if off. Didn't bother me on the first listen though so I'll stick to that for now. Cheers

Re: LOM75-05-21 |
Compliments is my fave after Garcia. I would've loved for him---or the GD as a whole---to have done an album of nothing but country & bluegrass tunes that had not been played often or at all, live. They have been called a country-boogie-band, and I think they did MUCH justice to You Win Again, Muddy Water, El Paso, Silver Threads & Golden Needles, Tomorrow Is Forever, Sittin On Top Of The World, GDTRFB, Mama Tried, Sing Me Back Home, and any other country/bluegrass tune not mentioned. Garcia was a big fan of Buck Owens, which is another country artist Garcia would've done great by.
As for Martin Fierro, I ultimately could do without the addition of horns to Merl's & Garcia's "sound", but it's there & there's nothing I can do about it. It's ALL great shit though!!!
