April 15th at the Archive we are having the graphics applied to the truck camper that holds the East Coast Bookmobile for the Internet Archive and Anywherebooks, and it will be ready to launch.

I'll be driving it to Philadelphia for an event at Swarthmore April 23rd. Then I'll take it to New Hampshire where I plan to visit schools and libraries a couple of times a week. When the weather gets cold I'll head south and maybe back to San Francisco.

Last night I went to a booksigning for Larry Lessig's new book, "Free Culture," where I printed out (authorized) copies of the book. It was a success.

Please add suggestions for bookmobile visits here. I'll try to report notes on bookmobile events now that we are more active.

I'm in Watertown, Mass., like the last poster, and would also like to know your travel schedule! If you don't hit the Boston area, I would like to meet you wherever you go. I'd also be interested in helping out.
Sincerely,
lp smith

okay, I'm starting to make up a schedule now. I can make it down to Watertown if you can get an invitation from a school or library. email me at ericeldred at usa.net to discuss.

Dear Mr. Eldred,

I'm a bookseller, formerly a college prof and elementary school teacher, and I'm fascinated by the Internet Bookmobile project. You mentioned in your last post that you'd be driving from Swarthmore, PA up to New Hampshire later in April or May to visit schools.

I live in Watertown, MA (just west of Cambridge), and I could drive up to New Hampshire if the next leg of your trip doesn't take you back through the Boston area (if it does, of course, that would be even better). I'd appreciate it if you could let me know about your current travel schedule; I would also be able to drive out to western MA or eastern NY state if I've missed you in NH. Thanks!

Sincerely, Bruce Travis

Will you still be traveling the East Coast in the Spring of 2005? We've got plenty of room for the camper and would love to have you visit our event near Johnstown, PA on May 5 and 6.

I work for a binding machine company and from time to time we get used machines. Is there somewhere we can donate them?

Richard Koman and I went to Washington, D.C., for the InterAction Expo, and made a bunch of books. We made some contacts in the international aid community. Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke at the gathering but didn't have time to make a book.

We'd be happy to bring the bookmobile to D.C. if you can provide a place for us to park the camper.
