34 itemsWelcome to The Library of Virginia
The Library of Virginia serves as both the state library and archives at the seat of government for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Established in 1823, the library maintains and provides access to vast and varied collections of print materials, manuscripts, archival records, newspapers, photographs and ephemera, maps and atlases, rare books, and fine art that tell the history of Virginia and its people. The library has chosen to digitize selected rare and Virginia specific items in an effort to make them more widely available, both through our own website and now through Internet Archive. The Library of Virginia is located one block from the Capitol in Richmond, Virginia.
