Subject: Clean Letter Bound Copy
Bound copy of numbers 1 - 4. Editor, Joseph Smith Jr. Numbers 1 and 2 printed by Thomas B. Marsh in Geauga County, Ohio. Numbers 3 and 4 printed by Thomas B. Marsh in Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri.

Number 1, October, 1837, has a typo giving the date of a letter from Samuel Burnet to Elder William Hayden, a Cambellite, as November 10, 1837 (p. 9) while Hayden’s reply is dated November 24, 1836 (p. 12). Burnet’s initial letter to the Elders’ Journal (p. 9) explains that correspondence between Burnet and Hayden took place in the Fall of 1836. The date of Burnet's first letter to Hayden is November 10, 1836.

Number 1 contains an obituary for Jerusha T. Smith, wife of Hyrum Smith. Date of her death is not given in this publication (p. 16). Smith died on October 13, 1837, age 32, due to complications from giving birth to her sixth child.

Number 4 contains an obituary for James G. Marsh son of Thomas B. Marsh. Marsh died on May 7, 1838, age 14 (p. 48).
