Doris Day (again??) stars as Calamity Jane, which is similar to having Joan Crawford as Vienna in Johnny Guitar, but with less male hormones. She gets somewhat dirty, but still is hard to believe as someone you don't mess around with. We're resolved to that when she sings the sugary "Secret Love". Urrrgh,

I remember when I was living in San Diego California and every saturday my dad gave me money to go to the movies. This was over 50 years ago! The first time I watched Doris Day and Howard Keel in "Calamity Jane" I was awed by how this movie was made and shown to the silver screen with such grandeur. I never took my eyes off the screen during the whole picture. Doris Day was one of my favorite female actriss' back then and still is today. If anyone asked me for a family movie I would recommend "Calamity Jane." It is cleaned and wholesome entertainment for the whole family and not the type of for letter words and questionable physical gestures of todays movies. What a relief to know this movie is still popular today as it was back then. I highly recommend to everyone to get a copy for their library. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
