Subject: Dorothy Mackaill
Thought she was pretty good; surprised her career didn't last!

Subject: Poor Boy Rich Wife
Interesting story that explores the social class divides of the 1930's. Not an original story line by any means, but still a good telling of the usual poor boy meets rich girl routine. Lloyd Bacon does a good job of directing. Joel McCrea shows some good acting skills and why he would later become a star. Dorothy Mackaill, on the other hand is just not up to the task. She was not as good in talkies as she was in silent pictures and is little known today.

I wount give this story away. I really liked it, its wonderfully good because the lucky poor guy wins. I really enjoyed the characters, the old cruel dame, a whippersnapper with a tenderness for her dog is dispicable to her whipped husband. You get the feeling this could happen to the poor husband, but hooray his rich wife conforms to make her husband happy and I'm happy because of it.. Sorry I gave the story away. OOops.

Subject: Surprising depth
This was not quite as predictable as I thought it would be, with surprising responses and depth of insight from some characters, and some learning from their mistakes and doing better. It has a very satisfying ending.

but Dick had no balls till the very end. He should have slapped her silly and knocked the H E double hockey sticks out of Charlie.
Still much better than I expected and one can only guess the limp gizzard men now days who would let a woman like that wrap their DNA around their little fingers to be kept and not have to earn a thin dime.

I really liked this one. It had an average story and well developed characters.

I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this one was.
